We will be staying at a Disney hotel in March and we have an 8 yr old and 12 year old. Would probably want to go to House of Blues for a drink or two and listen to some music one night at the Downtown Disney District.

Our hotel offers in room babysitting services but I have never known anyone to use them.......... scary or ?

Yes. It was a disaster.

Three couples together got a sitter through our hotel to watch 4 kids. We each paid the hotel $50 for the service. The sitter was late. She told us when she arrived she could only stay until 10, when we had said we needed her until midnight. And then when she left she said we were supposed to pay her $20 per kid. I was going to refuse but one of the other guys gave her the money to get rid of her and then I felt obligated to pay him my share.

Our company ended up reimbursing us, anyway, so we didn't make stink about it with the hotel.

I imagine that Disney has its act together better than that.

Ask the hotel for guest references
The hotel would be smart to have them
Your kids are old enough to be left alone, but think about all the people in the hotel that you dont know that are staying there also.....
Think if its really that important for you to have a good night and some drinks and risk your kids safety.....
I am not being rude but anything can happen.
Try maybe....it sounds weird, but ask the hotel if you and spouse could spend a few hours or the day with this babysitter to see if you would be comfortable with them. Make sure your kids would be comfortable too.....
Good Luck.

Don't know about hotel sitters but would imagine the Disney Hotel would have good resources. There's also a great baby sitting service in LA called Boomlet Care and their sitters are checked out. They might be able to help you. Contact Kerri Nakayama at 310-545-5181 or boomletcare@cs.com.

Have fun in CA.

We had a great experience at Bacra in Santa Barbara (the highlight of an otherwise poor resort) My guess is that the Disney resorts have this thing down pat. Just figure that the kids wont sleep and leave your cell number with both the kids and the sitter

Better the hotel, better the service...with Disney and the age of your kids, I wouldn't think twice.

Downtown disney is a blast!

Atlantis is one among those first-type inn with many opportunities.. There are the right beaches, boat cruises, ingesting places, night club, on line casino, customer Rooms, and Suites, Piano Bars, Pool section, Marina Village, etc. I invite you upon your arrival to time out the hotel and choose the right spot.
