I know somebody is going to *try this at home* anyway, but I'm going to go out there and say *DON'T TRY THIS AT HOME* anyway.

You can purposely make yourself faint (with the help of a friend) by doing the following. Note: This is not healthy in anyway. You may permanently damage your body, including your brain.

Having the disclaimer out of the way, here's the process: Breathe HEAVILY (deep breaths in, and deep breaths out) for a count of 40 breaths. At the intake of the 40th breath, hold it.

Stand against a wall while still holding that breath and have somebody place their hands on your chest, pushing, creating a compression in the lung region.

Keep holding your breath, in a few seconds to a minute, you will be happily dreaming of candy-cane island and saying farewell to all the brain cells that won't be accompanying you on the return trip.

I believe it's caused by a lack of oxygen to the brain; and yes, it can be done on purpose. All you have to do is hold your breath for too long.

Normally, you just feel funny, your vision blurs, then you're gone...

If you pretend to faint, in the old days, it was called 'swooning'.
Women were supposed to 'swoon' when something improper was happening.
