i have a hitachi 50plasmahd tv...i have a hitachi progressive scan dvd player...when i hook it up and leave the progressive scan off it works fine...but when i flip the switch on the back of the dvd player to progressive scan it only plays sound and no picture...i'm using the 3 colored hookups for it and i know its hooked up fine? do i need different wires to make the progressive scan work? thanks

I have to agree with the other person who posted. Three colored wires could mean more than one thing.

Composite video and stereo audio is three wires - Yellow for video, Red and White for audio. Composite video CANNOT output progressive scan.

Component video and stereo audio is five wires - Green, Blue and Red (three cables usually bundled together) for video and Red and White for audio. Component video CAN output progressive scan.

If you do have the component video cables then you may need to go into your TV setup and select progressive scan for the component video input.

First of all, which three color hook-up? A lot of people confuse RCA connectors to component. Make sure the colors on the connectors are RED, BLUE, GREEN. Otherwise, is your television capable of progressive scan input? It may not be able to read 480p but it can easily read 480i. Read your manual on that.
