Can someone please explain to me what it means to be a Mormon? Are they Christians? I dont understand...

Yes. Mormons are Christians. (The thing about believing Jesus and Satan are brothers is a red herring - since Satan was created by God, and Jesus is God's son, then they are brothers, QED. Doesn't mean they have anything else in common.)
They believe much the same as Evangelical Christians, except for the belief in continuing revelation, hence the Book of Mormon as additional scripture. Many Christians seem to think they believe in salvation by works. That's not true, although they do believe that faith in Christ obligates us to live according to God's will.
In practice they tend to be very devout and conservative, live very clean lives but still manage to have lots of fun. There is no paid ministry - even the missionaries, who spend two years preaching door to door, are self supporting.

As a Mormon LDS for over 30 years,
I could say that, we believe Jesus Christ to be the Son of God, and accept Jesus Christ as our Savior, and our salvation comes only through Jesus Christ.
We are taught to love our family, love our neighbors, and be self reliant in our life.
Yes, many mistakenly and purposely say we are some sort of cult religion, but a careful and fair examination of our doctrine and standard in life will show how wrong our accusers are.
Is that short enough?

Mormons believe in God the Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost. They believe in the Bible, and in addition, they have the Book of Mormon which was written by ancient prophets on the American continent. They believe that marriage can be eternal and that families can be together after this life.
As for your question, are they Christians? I guess that depends on your definition of a Christian. If your definition of a Christian is one that believes in Jesus Christ and strives to follow his teachings, then yes, Mormons are Christians. The fact that every church may have slightly different doctrines regarding Christ is irrelevant.
