The planet earth hangs 93 million miles from the blistering surface of the sun. It's a rotating sphere perfectly suspended in the centre of the universe. The ultimate creation from an infinite mind. An unbelievably intricate complex design. A supernatural testimony, an irrefutable sign that there is a God.
The size, position and angle of the earth is a scientific phenomenon to see. A few degrees closer to the sun we'd disintegrate and a few degrees further, we'd freeze. The axis of the earth is titled at a perfect 23 degree angle and it's no mistake that it is. This allows equal global distribution to the rays of the sun making it possible for the food chain to exist.
Or take for example the combination of nitrogen and oxygen in the atmosphere we breathe. It just happens to be the exact mix that life needs to prosper, this doesn't happen on any other planet.
You see, the Bible says the invisible things of God are seen through His creation, to believe this is not hard. If there's a design, there's a designer, if there's a plan, there's a planner and if there's a miracle, there is a God.
The Scripture says the heavens declare the glory of God and the skies proclaim the work of His hands. If we allow our minds to drink in all the truth that just surrounds us, creation itself with help us understand.
Did you know the moon controls the tides. Even the waves don't crash the shores in vain. The tides drag impurities from the depths of the sea, it's nature's constant recycling chain.
It simply boggles the mind to think that the stars will rotate with such exact precision that it's true. That the atomic clock with an error factor of less than three seconds per millennium is set by the way we move.
Though they silently orbit, the sun, the moon, the stars are like celestial evangelists above. Who circle the earth every 24 hours shouting in every language that there is a God.
Atheism is the wedge under the foundation of our faith, trying to topple our relationship with Christ. When the fool said in his heart, there is no God, he rejects the truth God painted on the canvas of the night. Atheism has never created an artistic masterpiece, never healed a fatal disease or calmed a fear. Atheism has never still given answers to our existence, peace to a troubled mind or even dried a tear.
For it's God who created heaven and earth and flung the stars in space and breathed in the handful of dirt and it became a man. It's God who sits on the circle of the earth and measures the mountains in a scale, and holds the seven seas in the palm of His hand. It's God who sent His only begotten Son to the cross of Calvary to save our souls from Hell and the grave. It's God who creates, God who delivers, God who heals and God who is worthy of a thunderous ovation of praise

Lol. That is funny!
Here's an easy answer to your friend. If this creator was so perfect, why isn't the Earth perfect. Point out the floods, earthquakes, hurricanes and tsunamis that kill thousands upon thousands. If the Earth was created perfectly, why would these happen?
Dog Sneeze (above) gives a good answer to this, by pointing out the type of argument that's being used.
It would help if it wasn't so heavily flawed in its content (not to mention its analysis and direction). Some examples:
"suspended in the centre of the universe"
The Earth is not in the centre of the universe. The Earth rotates around its own axis, a point between the Earth and the Moon and around the Sun. The Sun rotates around the centre of the Galaxy and the Galaxy rotates around the centre of the Universe.
"an irrefutable sign that there is a God."
I refute it! The word irrefutable is used to suggest there is no other explanation. Whereas far from proving the existence of a creator, it is merely presenting one possible explanation for our reality (which of course, we've already seen the author is blissfully unaware of).
"this doesn't happen on any other planet."
This phrase covers the angle of our planet, and all the preconditions required for life. And yes, we're lucky. We couldn't exist on another planet in this solar system. But there are certainly other planets in the universe with similar or even better conditions for life. You have to look at it as a probability - which is another argument often used - what are the chances of this happening at random? It's so low it's clearly impossible without a creator's help!! Well, this is just a misunderstanding of probability - the usual counter example is the bridge player. When they check their hand of cards and calculate the probability of getting that they find it was 1 in 600 billion. They don't instantly think they've disproven their hand of cards...
"If we allow our minds to drink in all the truth that just surrounds us, creation itself with help us understand"
This would be good advise, but it comes from the same sources that try to block science (obvious example being evolution) - clearly not a group that wants to understand, but rather to stick with their current viewpoints.
"Atheism has never created an artistic masterpiece, never healed a fatal disease or calmed a fear. Atheism has never still given answers to our existence, peace to a troubled mind or even dried a tear."
This is just stupid. Firstly, atheism is not a religion or a philosophy. It doesn't create anything. But atheists might. And I'm pretty sure you'll find some atheists who have created masterpieces, etc.
The best two on the list are 'answers to our existence' and 'peace to a troubled mind'. Atheists are open to research looking into such answers. I've never heard of an atheist trying to argue with science. And 'peace to a troubled mind' is what is meant by passing off religion as answers to everything. Well, instead of passing off speculation without evidence, most (informed) atheists would comment on the science. I see religion as giving lies to ease a troubled mind. And I think giving people the science and ability to think for themselves will ease their troubled minds.
I enjoy debating and I'm open to reasonable arguments. This isn't even close to being reasonable. I'd tell your friend to go and do some research.
I'll stop my rant now ;)

"The size, position and angle of the earth is a scientific phenomenon to see. A few degrees closer to the sun we'd disintegrate and a few degrees further, we'd freeze. "
Luck... if you have a million stars odds are one has a right balance. That will support out life.
Things balace out thats all.

Not in the centre of the universe... we on on the edge of a galaxy packed with planets, and stars in a universe packed with galaxies...
We aint that big a deal and most likely many planets support various life.
"

No design...
Say nice pretty rock formations... We think they look great but just rock. Its only our perception that it looks pretty that makes us think that way... To other animals its just a rock...
The sand just formed it that way.
Likwwiae animals and plant life interacted and what worked sataysed. Now that will continue.
ie cute fluffy cats do well even though not as strong as wolves as cats happen to work with a dominant life form ie us.
Bit like clown fish and anenomies
" Atheism has never still given answers to our existence, peace to a troubled mind or even dried a tear. "
Thats as it operates on proof and evidence and maybe in 8 centuries when we make a telescope the size of 3 galaxies we may get your answer
This say religious rumnet was put forwards as athiesim had not given us the means to fly before the wright brothers invented the plane.
Same principle.
"peace to a troubled mind or even dried a tear."
You trying to tell me no athiest ever hugged an upset child???
"

NO many relgious all say their gods, goddesses, elders, ancestors, the sun, see, little pink unicorns all did the same as a simple answer to people who want an answer regardgelss of truth...
much like if a child is murdered horribly the public want somoen to pay. It does not matter if the person Accussed is innocent or not.
If wierd he must have done it and if killed the public is happy even if the real attacker got away
As for the argument of a car needed a designer so did an eye.
Well try this... Eyes are organic. Cars are not... if your organic foot keeps walkting on rough ground ti adapts and toughens up.
If you rub a car part on the floor it wears out as not organic..
Organic matter adapts and evolves

You seem to have a religious nut for a boyfriend and i am sorry.
There are billions of planets and it happened this one was suitable for out kind of life. Every time we come across something for which ignorant people have no explanation, we do not have to bring in the supernatural. They should go to a university and learn why, or take the word of those who have done so, or wait until we find the answer.
In the 250,000 years of man's existence, religion has given us nothing but ignorance, suppression of knowledge, hate and wars. In its 130 years of existence, science has given us almost miraculous inventions and is taking us to the stars.

Faith is a gift of God. You cannot by the mind alone find God. It is only by revelation that you can know God.
If the above leads you to consider and seek for God, all well and good.
How sad that the atheists have no soul or appreciation and dismiss the above with their clever minds (and all too often not so clever) and reason which they worship. How sad that they restrict themselves to their cold reason with no heart and consider their minds are so superior, while, poor fools, proving the truth that they can never find out God with the mind alone.

I agree that the wonders of the Universe cause one to reflect on the possibility of a Supreme Being. Even Einstein said this.
But just because the amazing wonders of life cause one to believe in a Supreme Being, does not mean that he has to accept ancient fables in the bible as factual. For example, a person might hold a belief in God, but reject the idea of talking serpents being a part of Creation. Nonetheless, many evangelicals will call such a person an atheist, saying that you have to believe the creation fables of primitive ancient people in order to believe in God. It's ridiculous, of course, but that's what many of them say.
Thomas Jefferson was a Deist. He believed in God, but not in talking serpents.

I think the Christian is trying in their own way to prove the existence of God.
I agree to an extent but it gets too variational on theme to make the sense the writer probably intended.
I am a Christian too.
If u fancy a laugh, have a look at this: www.changing.org.uk Look at how many times the Pastor moves 1 or both his hands.

I find it difficult to understand Christian thought that believes in a male god who made everything. What happened to common sense, science and evolution. My understanding is the Christian faith is based on a book written by men (from hearsay) which has been rewritten (many times) by men who needed to control the (then - generally ignorant) masses. Thus creating a church that and was exclusive and male dominated. This nonsense of God creating the universe is just that. And thus the current social order has evolved, contiuing the patriachal values used to keep us all in order. Until that is, I heard of Joan Chittister. A feminist nun who believes that by challenging these partiachial beliefs and systems and articulating them in feminist philosophy, theology and social theory we can all (not necessarily Christian) develop spiritual values that are truly compassionate. Its still not enough though to make me understand Christianity.

You cant learn why atheists hate believers in school. You can only learn HOW to. And thats because our schools are now dominated by secular liberal philosophy and the supreme court is happy to back them up with their liberal acitivist judges approving things like slavery and abortion. Precisely what history are we trying to ignore? At least if youre going to make accusation, you could be more specific. Lets take a look at some of that history! "As one writer put it, “Leaders such as Stalin and Mao persecuted religious groups, not in a bid to expand atheism, but as a way of focusing people’s hatred on those groups to consolidate their own power.” Of course I agree that murderous regimes, whether Christian or atheist, are generally seeking to strengthen their position. But if Christian regimes are held responsible for their crimes committed in the name of Christianity, then atheist regimes should be held accountable for their crimes committed in the name of atheism. And who can deny that Stalin and Mao, not to mention Pol Pot and a host of others, all committed atrocities in the name of a Communist ideology that was explicitly atheistic? Who can dispute that they did their bloody deeds by claiming to be establishing a “new man” and a religion-free utopia? These were mass murders performed with atheism as a central part of their ideological inspiration, they were not mass murders done by people who simply happened to be atheist. Like Stalin and Mao, Hitler illustrates the point made by both Dostoyevsky and earlier John Locke: when God is excluded, then it is not surprising when morality itself is sacrificed in the process and chaos and horror is unleashed on the world. So it has been in our time, and all the elaborate evasions produced by today’s atheists cannot change what their anti-religious kinsmen did, cannot change the grim facts of history. "

Spot on ! and beautifully written. Only those of limited intelligence would believe that such a complex universe came into being by chance. The computer or television were not created by chance, but by a creator, so what to speak of an entire universe.
