I work in a hospital lab. It would be helpful to know what tests you had done, but from what you've said I suspect that your BUN and Creatinine levels might have been a little high. These are "basic" kidney tests. They must not have been alarmingly high or they'd want additional tests right away. These tests can be elevated simply because a person is dehydrated so that's why they want to check on it to be sure it's not going up for a different reason. They are probably testing your urine for protein to see if there is kidney damage occuring. Again, the fact that they want to wait 3 months is a good sign. They don't seem to suspect anything and are just checking to be sure. Best Wishes!

Definitely ask your Dr! He/she is the only one who knows your medical history (age, risk factors, medical conditions, medicationsyou take) and can decide which of the many possible causes applies in your case. The many causes include dehydration (not drinking enough fluids), kidney damage caused by diabetes, high blood pressure or other chronic conditions, kidney diseases, blockage in the urinary tract, certain medications (some of which actually PROTECT the kidneys while making the kidney function numbers slightly worse).
Kidney infection alone is NOT expected to cause abnormal kidney function numbers, unless you are sick enough from it to have severe sepsis (bloodstream and generalized infection), with low blood pressure. Too low blood pressure increases kidney function numbers becuase the kidneys do not get enough blood flow.

It could possible mean you have an infection. I have had kidney troubles since I was 3yrs old and I have had many surgeries. You might just need to flush your kidneys. Drink plenty of water and cranberry juice. If you aren't having severe pain with it then it shouldn't be anything serious, just keep an eye on your comfort level when you go to the bathroom.

There are several reasons and you have not mentioned what is the test or what other health conditions you have and what medicines you are now taking. Better post the full details on a Yahoo Group related to kidney health and get better answers.

There are many approaches including alternative medical systems and non-medical healing systems, so no need to worry.

It could be medicines you are on or the beginning of kidney failure.
Be sure you have your blood checked about every 6 months. If they become worse have your doctor make a referral to a large hospital where they can test you further.
I had the same thing happen to my liver. It turned out to be cancer causing me to have to get a liver transplant.
I wish you the best.

I couldn't just sit around and do nothing like my doctors suggested.

They didn't want me to do anything or to take herbs or herbal remedies, but I had to try something - they just wanted me to do dialysis!

This program allowed me to take control of my health. I went from Stage 4 to Stage 3 kidney disease.

It was easy to do and my BUN, creatinine and anemia are all in better ranges.

If you doctor stated this to you, it would have been an excellent time to grill the doctor. Question what you don't understand right then. Make a list when you go to the doctor, to help you remember.
