Using the usual window capture ('Alt-Print Scr') should work if the movie is not protected. Here's what I do:
1) Play the movie using Windows Media Player, and pause at the frame you want to capture.
2) Press 'Alt-Print Scr'.
3) Create a new file in an image editor (like Photoshop), and paste the captured image from the clipboard. (If the pasted image is black, the movie is probably protected.)
4) Crop out the unwanted portion, as save as a jpeg.

Hey. The easiest way to get shots off a video is to use a program called Hypersnap DX (using printscreen doesn't work!).
I've used it to grab a couple of shots off Band of Brothers - does the trick!

i could be incorrect yet i dont think of you like utility, while the DVD is taking part in pause it and have a look into pressing the "Print reveal" button on your keyboard (next to the "scroll lock" button), this takes a screenshot of your reveal, now open a image software, like photoshop, and paste the image in, now save it as a image document. wish this helps!
