I've tried thread in and outside the bottle telling her its bugs she just takes them off the bottle, water not milk and hot souce but as my surprise she loves hot and spicy things. I've giving her Milk in cup or in a juicy cup but she won't drink it. she wants nothing to do with any of that other than her bottle. Don't get me wrong, she doesnt have a bottle during the day only at night before bed time and at five in the morning while I'm getting ready for work. I give her the bottle because I dont want her to go through out the day with out drinking any milk. But I just can't figure out a way to take her off the Bottle.

Nuby is a brand of sippy cup that has a really soft silicone spout and is very much like a bottle. You can get them at Wal-Mart. This helped me with weening mine from nursing and my friend from weening off the bottle! Good Luck!

I can't imagine my son still on the bottle. he's been off since he was 12 months old. I just told him that we didn't have any more bottles and that he had to drink from his sippy cup. he didn't like it and it took about a week but it worked. Just tell her no and be firm with it. She'll drink when she gets thirtsy. Also, I make my son drink his milk first before any juice. If he doesn't drink it, he doesn't get any juice. It's not being mean it's just setting rules and boundries. We all need them and we need to learn when we are small. She just knows that you'll give her a bottle so why should she change.?

Start with a sippy cup with a soft silicone spout (Nuby makes a good one) and use that for a while. Pour the milk in the cup and give it to her. Don't look back. At 20 months she'll figure out pretty quickly that she doesn't get milk if she doesn't drink it from the cup. Don't cave in. The first 24 hours are going to suck but I promise she won't starve. It will be even harder for you than most people because she has learned that if she throws a big enough fit you'll give in. If you give in again it'll just be that much harder the next time.

Good luck!

The way I did it to my son, is actually take it away from him and not give it back. I also threw the bottles away. I don't like to give my son anything to drink at night time. He was broke off the bottle at 13 months. Because WIC tells you not to let your child have a bottle. Sooner or later the child will get thirsty and then go for the sippy cup. Good luck.

Either you can just take it away from her, or cut the nipple off the bottle and tell her it's broken. I did that with my daughter and her pacifier. She went through withdrawals for the first week, then it's like she forgot it. It won't be that bad, just don't give in. When I had my second child, she was broke from the bottle at 10 months. I didn't want the hassle of going through the whining of wanting it. Good luck!

When my daughter was 16 months, her and I threw her bottles away together. We made a big deal out of her having her very last bubba of milk, then pulled out the trash and she helped throw every single one of them away. ( i saved one for emergencies, but never had to use it.) She celebrated being a BIG girl. Just dont give it to her at night. Let her cry it out, after one or two nights, she'll figure it out. If she gets too cranky, make her get out of bed and take a drink of water from a regular cup, just like mommy does. Worked for us, good luck.

Telling her there are bugs on her bottle is going to develop into mistrust, so will the hot sauce.
Throw the bottles away, like everyone else said.

Give your daughter sippy cups and get rid of the bottles. It won't hurt her. I got rid of my kid's bottles at 12 months. Stick to your guns. This will work.

She is only 1 year and 8 months old, give her time, when the time comes for her to quit the bottle use, she will do it by herself. Don't push her, their is nothing wrong. Is she potty trained already, because usually children will leave the bottle and be potty trained around the same time. It will not harm her teeth and it will be much better if you just let her quit using the bottle by herself. If you push her she will get frustrated. Stop putting weird stuff into her bottle!!!

cut holes in the nipples and tell her no more. or throw them away. and give her sippy cup. and when she gets thirsty she will drink it. but you have to stay strong and don't give in to her. she will realize who's boss. good luck.
