I'm also interested in converting DVD files to audio, and VHS to DVD. I really don't know much about this stuff. I asked a couple of employees at Best Buy today but they both knew pretty much what I know which is not a good sign. I would appreciate any advice and names of good programs that can do these things. Thank YOU.

Super (C) is freeware that allows you to convert between multiple file types. It can be tricky depending on the type of conversion that you want to do. It can be found at:

If you have $60 or $70 to spend, Nero Vision (a component of Nero Ultimate 7.0) can import those files. Rather than burning them to a DVD (the intended purpose of the program), you can export the files into many different formats. You can find this at any electronics retailer.
