I, too, recently took a job working at a hospital and needed to get a TB test. So, I know exactly how you feel right now.

The tuberculin skin test, otherwise known as a Mannoux skin test, is performed by inserting a little needle right under the skin at almost a 90 degree angle. A tiny little bit of fluid is then inserted under the skin, enough to make a little bubble. Two days later you have to report back to the hospital so they can "read' the results.

The needle that is used is very short and very thin. You will feel a tiny little prick, when the first insert it, but the liquid that they inject will not burn you or sting you. There is also no aches or pains that you will feel later on or the next day.

I would rate the pain a 1. The stick is so teeny, that you probably wont even bleed after they withdraw the needle.

Be brave, you can do it!!!

I work at a hospital and I have to be tested for TB (tuberculosis) every year. TB is an infection of the lungs but can affect other organs as well and is contracted through airborn droplets, like when someone who is actively infected sneezes or coughs. The shot is usually given on the arm. A fluid is injected underneath the skin which forms a bump on the arm which is soon absorbed. Two days latter the arm is read by an RN (registered nurse). I'm not sure what they are looking for to confirm a positive reading. The shot is uncomfortable. I hate shots. I rate it a 2 on the pain scale.

A TB test is a test for tuberculosis and they make you get it if you are working closely with people. i.e Hospitals, group homes and such. On a scale of 1 to 10 of pain id say its liek a two. I hate needles too but you really dont even see the needles. its a round disk that has a circle of needles they push it into the fold of your arm and it doesnt hurt that bad. Then if it swells up you might either have an allergic reaction but go to the doctors because it may be a positive result. Good Luck!!!

Its a tuberculosis skin test( Tuberculosis is a bacterial infection of the lungs) They inject a small amount of (solution just under the skin.
If you have TB You natural anti-bodies will attack the solution and make it a hard bubble.

If you don't it will go away in a day or less.

TB is uncommon in the US

its a shot you get on your forearm. after a few days you go back to the doctor to check how it is. If there is no efect then you ar TB negative and all is well. If it begins to hurt and something happens to it then you have a TB. Its a normal hospital procedure i believe. i had to get the test done before i started working at a summer camp. If all is well it should be painless.

Tuberculosis test. They inject a TB test into your arm, it makes a bubble, and if the bubble doesn't go away within a few days, go back to the doctor and they will take care of it. The bubble usually goes away in 24 hours, it did for me.

Tuberculosis test - TB
It's a highly contagious disease, spread by coughing or sneezing, so hospital workers have to be checked.
The pain scale is less than 1. It's not a "needle", they scratch the surface of your skin. If you take a piece of sandpaper and rub it on a tiny spot on your skin, that's what it feels like.

its about a .000001 on the pain scale. All it is is a little tiny prick of a needle that is about a quarter of a centimeter long. If u have TB(tuberculosis) which is doubtful a bump will be raised. Dont worry about it.

TB = tuberculosis. It's just a normal shot, and I'm terrified of needles too, though it's pretty painless. It's also known as the "bubble test" because that's the effect it can have on your skin. The shot that really hurts is tetnus .. for this, you're gonna be fine.

It's just a little 4 prong thing that doesn't even hurt. They gave me one when I was little and it didn't hurt. TB is tuberculosis and they test you for it to see if you've ever been exposed to it or have it. They may also have you get a chest x-ray too.
