I'm a 53 yr old F. My Sed rate has been elevated and I was started on Prednisone 30 mgs which took my pains away. The RA Dr has me tapering off and I'm now taking 5mgs and with all the tests everything has been negative so far but my pain has returned.

Steroids (prednisone) can make one more prone to tear or partial tear of muscles from the joints where they're attached. The joints don't hurt, but it feels like painful lines between the elbow and shoulder or elbow and wrist, when you turn the limb. This will show up on an MRI.
Doctors don't think steroids caused my problem with muscles that tire too easily. Partial tear of a muscle is treated with prednisone type medicine, but since I won't take any more, they said it would take at least 6-8 weeks for the pain to go away. Over-using the affected muscles makes the pain come back some, so far...
