Notice I said fighter and not boxer. For example Frazier was a better fighter than Ali although Ali was the better boxer. This includes all weight classes.

Smitty is correct on this one. I meant to say greatest sluggers in boxing history in any weight class.

hey smitty, what about max baer? - surprised he didn't make your list...or nigel benn, for that matter. this one's kinda tough, surprisingly, but i'll take a stab at it:

1 - gotta go w/mid 80's mike
(speed, accuracy, power, defense, and the most promising fighter at that stage of his career i've ever seen....albeit unfulfilled!)
2 - foreman
(can't say he was a brawler, he seemed so far ahead of most of the guys he fought to the point it wasn't much of a contest)
3 - louis
(pinpoint accuracy, stealth, the formost example/definition of seek/destroy, shock/awe)
4 - liston
(what else can ya say, freakish power and for a time, the most feared fighter in history!)
5 - frazier
(relentless tenacity personified. perpetual forward motion! if rocky balboa had been a real fighter, i venture to say, he would look a li'l som'in like smokin' joe!)
6 - hearns
7 - lamotta
8 - duran
9 - chavez
10 - dempsey/baer

...far too many to squeeze into a top ten list. i changed this list several times as i composed it, so i am gonna submit this before i change my mind once again!

LET ME HELP CLARIFY THE QUESTION. FIGHTERS AND BOXERS ARE BASICALLY THE SAME.

IT IS EASY EVEN FOR EXPERTS LIKE YOURSELF TO BE UNCLEAR OF WHAT THEY ARE ASKING.

WHEN YOU WENT TO EXPLAIN YOU USED A BAD EXAMPLE. ALI IS THE #3 RANKED FIGHTER AND FRAZIER WAS THE #42 RANKED FIGHTER.

I THINK YOU MEAN PUNCHERS/SLUGGERS
BY BOXER YOU MEAN OUT-SIDE FIGHTER

I WILL GIVE YOU 12 AND PUT THEM IN THEIR OWN CATEGORY:

IN-SIDE FIGHTER
CHAVEZ
FRAZIER
TYSON

BRAWLER
FOREMAN
LISTON
MARCIANO

SWARMER
DEMPSEY
GOMEZ
ZARATE

PUNCHER
FOSTER
HEARNS
LOUIS
