The two answers above are the two greatest eras in boxing in my mind Late 60's early 70's Heavyweight division and late 70's early 80's Middleweight division, i would say the majority of everybodys top ten fighters of all time would come from these two particular eras, Ali, Foreman, Frazier, Liston, Patterson from the first and Hagler, Leonard, Hearns and Duran from the second two absolutely great periods in time for true boxing fans.

Muhammad Ali, Jerry Quarry, Zora Folley, Oscar Bonavena, Joe Frazier, Sonny Liston, Floyd Patterson, George Foreman, Ernie Terrell, George Chuvalo, Ken Norton, Ernie Shavers, I am probably missing a couple good fighters in here and no offense to the Joe Louis era but the names listed here are no push overs by any means. Maybe some of them were not crowned champion but they were definitely good enough to be. The fights: Ali/Frazier all of them, Ali/Foreman, Ali/Liston one
