Your transmission dipstick probably has a red colored handle, and it will most likely be toward the rear of the engine compartment. Very important thing to keep in mind when checking trans fluid: Make sure your vehicle is at normal operating temperature, parked on a level surface, and transmission is in the NEUTRAL position with the parking brake set. If you do not check it following these guidelines, you will get an incorrect reading. There should be marks on the dipstick indicating full and low or min/max, just like your oil dipstick. Be aware that if you add trans fluid that it is the correct type. New Chrysler/Dodge vehicles use a special synthetic fluid. It is not recommended to mix different types of fluids, as this may affect the transmissions preformance, and may possibly cause damage. I hope this answer helps you and if you have any more questions please feel free to contact me.

look for a second dip stick in your engine compartment. the transmission dipstick in most cars is located in back of the engine. when you pull it out, if it has a red color or brownish red, then that's it. you put the fluid in the same hole as the dip stick. when you check the level of the fluid before you add any, make sure the engine has run for 5 minutes or so so you get an accurate reading. if you check the transmission fluid while the engine is cold you will get a false reading causing you to put more fluid in then you need possibly harming the transmission.

Open the hood while stand in front of the car, the trans. dip stick should be on your right in the front area where end of the motor meets the trans axle. It will be down low in the front part of the trans & should have a yellow handle on it. Hope this helps you out. Start the car check the dip stick & use a funnel to add fluid if you need to.Make sure you get the right fluid for that vehicle & that trans

WRONG, if you car is automatic transmission there should be a dipstick to check the fluid level. with the engine running and everything up to temperature put the gear lever in P for 1 minute then check the level to see if you need to top it up. if the level is low then you top it up down the dipstick tube. If your transmission is manual then you have to do that from under the car, there is a level plug on the side of the gearbox.
