there isnt a rule in a retail book saying you cant. but out of respect for a customer that you may assume celebrates that holiday, you shouldnt say "merry xmas".

happy hoildays refers to all holidays during that xmas season.

Yes, should be allowed to say either one and the only reason this problem even happened is cause someone was worried that a group would get offended and loose out on the almight dollar. We are subjected to what so many groups want for themselves, but a crime to say a little word as Merry Christmas.

Only if it's a store that exclusively sells Christian products. Otherwise, let's keep it nice and non-denominational, people.

i also think they should say happy hannukah, kwanzaa, ramadaan and all the other holidays to the appropriate people.
