I'm 36 years old and have never met my biological father. I spoke to him when I was 20 years old because a friend/co-worker took it upon herself to locate him because she knew I wanted to eventually find him...and she did this without my knowledge. She left a message on his home answering machine, stating that she's MY friend and asked him to call her at work. She told me after she did it what she'd done. Three days later he called our office and I happened to answer his call. I apologized and explained why she did this and told him that I only wanted to meet him and didn't expect anything in return...that I'm curious. I asked if his wife and family heard my friend's message and he said she did. All he had to say was "I've been through one divorce and I don't want to go through another, so I think we ought to leave things the way they are". I got really mad and said "FINE !!!" and slammed down the phone. My boss let me leave early. I never heard from him again.

About a year before this, my Uncle who went to high school my "father" looked up his number in the phone book and spoke with him for a while to let him know of my existence. My mother never told him because they had been broken up for a while when she realized she was pregnant..she was only 15, him too. She had begun dating the man she actually married when he came home from the Army/Vietnam when I was a few months old. That lasted 5 years and I carried his last name until I married at age 31 but I never saw him again but a coupld of times after their divorce and then once when I was 18. ANYWAY...My uncle had told my biological dad about me. He just kept repeating that he never knew about me and he said he had three kids...two from first marriage and a baby with his second and current wife. My question is...would you pursue trying to meet him, knowing all this and still longing to just see his face ???
