My 2 year old daughter has had a rash for 17 days now. It looks similar to scabies but the doctor told me it was not scabies. The first doctor she saw said it was viral. When the rash didn't go away and actually got worse by the time the doctor said it would go away ... I took her to another doctor. That doctor said it was most definitely NOT viral and tested her for allergies. She has a low allergy to peanuts and dust but they explained that that is very common and nothing to worry about. They said it was not causing her rash. They're washing their hands of it and sending me to a dermatologist. We'll be going in 2 1/2 weeks. She doesn't have any other symptoms. She hasn't even had a cold in months. What could this be? Prednisone won't even take the rash away. Thanks and God bless!

might be soap, detergent, stuff on the floor, could be anything. Seems these days doctors don't know much and really do want to push you off. I have 3 sons and get that feeling alot. They don't want you in the exam room for more then 3 minutes. Good Luck

Like other people have said, it might be the laundry detergent you are using or the brand of diapers. Have you tried powder to help clear that rash? Putting wet stuff on a wet area might just make things worse. Try and put some baby powder on her and changer her very frequently. Also you might want to try to let her run around with a bare bottom so that air can get to the affected area. that might help as well.
Good luck.

Two of my daughters have an allergy to anti-bacterial soap if they fail to rinse it all off. They get a terrible looking rash similar to scabies and it can get pretty crusty too. We've had to use Neosporin on their hands and monitor their hand washing to get it to go away. As for my son, everytime I eat tomatoes and then breastfeed him, he gets a very bad rash that requires Neosporin and airing out. I let him air out for two hours after he's gone potty. Hope this helps.

Maybe dry skin?? Have you tried putting lotion on her? My daughter had a spreading rash with nothing else wrong with her. The doctor said it is most likely dry skin so she gave us a whole bunch of different lotions. She also gave us a prescription for cortisone cream (it's an over the counter item).
