This is a very common story. My wife has TONS of ideas I know could make money. The bottom line is that in order to secure your idea, you need a patent. While you can file a preliminary patent (intent) with very little investment, to get a full blown patent can be pretty costly and take some time. If it's a sound idea, you may want to draw up an NDA (non-disclosure agreement) and discuss your idea with some potential investors to help you get started.

Best of luck!

i would say you want to register a pattent for it....that way you should be able to find out if the idea has been done before and will also mean you have the legal rights to that idea.....

Not sure how to go about getting a pattent though but i'm sure you will find info on the internet
