It really depends on what you want out of the experience. In general, I recommend LCD... it's cheaper and less prone to breakage than Plasma or DLP. LCD may distort a bit if there's a lot of action on the screen, but it is general lighter, thinner, and not as prone to damage from drops or heat, nor as succeptible to burn-in.

DLP. LCD and Plasma have a little bit of a problem (not much though) of displaying an after-image on fast moving objects. It will be like objects have a tail when the move (albeit slight).

If you want a thin screen, then go with LCD. But if you want a rear-projection, get DLP.

DLP would prolly be best for you. A nice Toshiba DLP will do you good.
