I am a hairstylist, and this is because a man's haircut generally takes me about 20 minutes, and doesn't require a blow dry. I schedule 45 minutes for a woman, and woman's hair requires cutting more, blowdrying, and styling. Just like everything else, the more time and effort put into something, the more money it will cost. Hope this helps :)

Women tend to be fussier with their hair than men. This is especially true in salons.

As for women who go to a barber shop, it's usually because they just need a trim and don't wish to pay the extra money at a salon or they get ultra-short cuts that most salons won't even try. That being said, women getting their hair cut at a barber shop usually get a break in price as long as it's not something complicated.

I'm not exactly sure. I think it might have to do with the pickiness of women. Women expect more out of a haircut. Most men I know would just want a simple trim, no extra work required.

They usually don't get as much hair cut off...
Less labor = less of a price.
