Which of the many phases Picasso went through are you referring to? For example, in his cubist phase, Georges Braque and Picasso painted rather similar still lives.

I am not sure what is is you looking for but since you mention both Picasso and Impressionism (as well as Van Gogh who is a post-impressionist) you may want to look up Henri Matisse. He fits the criteria you mention.

Matisse, Rouault, Derain, Vlaminck, Friesz, Marquet, van Dongen, Braque, and Dufy were all part of the Fauvist movement ( which was a precursor to Cubism) . Matisse was the only one to stay with it after 1908.

I think you will see the beginnings of Cubism in paintings such as "Le Bonheur de Vivre" (The Joy of Life). To read about Matisse and view some of of his work, search:
WebMuseum, Paris. Click on Famous Artworks and you can find Matisse listed there.

I hope this proves helpful.

During his cubist period there were other artists, like Georges Braque, who created work that looked similar to Picasso. But by the mid to late 1930s Picasso had become the most famous, the most recognized, artist in the world and no other artist was willing to do anything that looked like or was influenced by the them world-famous Picasso 'style'. No one wanted to be compared to Picasso or wanted to be accused of 'borrowing' from Picasso. So the other contemporary artists during his time went off in their own directions. trying to create their own styles.

As to impressionism, Picasso never painted anything that would fit into the impressionistic style so there is no way he could be compared to those artists.

His early more figurative paintings, done during is co-called 'Blue Period' and 'Rose Period' were not impressionist works. If anything, they were a re-invention, a re-working, of classical realism.

A famous painter who was a great admirer of Picasso (at a certain time in his development) and produced works similar in style to "Guernica" in the early 1940´s was Jackson Pollock. See examples such as "Birth" "Masqued Image" Untitled"Naked Man with Knife" and "Orange Head" together with the drawings Pollock produced (to give to Dr Henderson, his psychoanalyst) at this time. However, all of this has little to do with "impressionism" and Van Gogh`s "Starry Night"!!!

Georges Braque "The Table" 1928 is very reminiscent to Picassos work. I all ways saw Marcel Duchamps work, specifically "Nude Descending a Staircase" 1912 as if it could have been painted by Picasso. Look them up, see what you think. Rockysart

Braque comes to mind. I actually prefer Braques still life paintings to Picasso's. There is also a Mexican artist named Tamayo who paints similarly.
