The numbers were skyrocketing for a while, but awareness and the governments willingness to subsidize the medications has greatly reduced the spead of HIV in thailand. Sadly though, about 600,000 people are infected with HIV in Thailand, with a population of about 65M, that's about 1 in 100

To put it in perspective, by estimations there are about 1,000,000 cases of HIV in the US with an estimated population of about 295M. That's about 3 in 1000

From what I've read, alot. Prostitution is a huge issue in South East Asia, so STDS are very common.
