Hey am thinking about joining the military but I do not have a Drivers License and do not know how to drive. Is it possible to join the Air Force without a drivers license? And how do you get around base when you are deployed or in tech school with no car?

I was in the Marines as a mechanic. During mechanic school, I was surprised by the number of guys that had never driven a car (most from New York where you can get around without a car). So it is possible, and common to enlist in the military without having driven before. As far as getting around base, most new young enlistees don't have cars anyway. When I was in MOS school, no one had a car. Did a lot of walking and rode a lot of taxis.

Yes, you can join the military without a license, my husband entered the military when he was 18 went through basic, went to Italy all without a driver's license. He did not get it until he was 21 because there was no need. You either walked, took a cab or shuttle Good luck. You are headed in the right direction.

Some jobs in the military do require a Drivers license to get enllisted in that job, ie: mechanics, transportation, MP, but we do teach guys and gals to drive. One must have a civilian DL to drive a military vehicle like a humvee.

the air stress has more desirable criteria, yet fairly i recognize someone with a GED who enlisted into the AF. there is not any reason to frown upon the military, each and everything has a stereotype and hence you mustn't pay interest even as people inform you the air stress is "elementary" bc it genuinely isn't. Sounds to me it is helpful to refer to some recruiters, yet be warned i have heard many stuff about the military, marines, and nationwide safeguard recruiters being very pushy. on the different hand i recognize from journey that the air stress isn't pushy in any respect. So do not bypass visit a marine recruiter and enable him communicate you into signing some thing straight away!! for my area, the air stress is the right thanks to bypass!

Actually believe it or not, I knew a guy in the Navy who NEVER had a driver's license. He just didn't drive, didn't have to as he was a ship based sailor so he just never got around to it.
If you had to have one believe me you'd see recruiters driving busloads of guys and gals to the DMV daily!

Out of curiousity, would the armed service that you're in (E.g the Airforce in this case) not teach you how to drive, if you requested?
I know my father learned with the British Army when he was based in Cyprus, maybe it's the same in the US?
