thumbs up and down are a way people can show their appreciation or lack of it towards someone elses answer.......
I dont think you can give an answer a thumb until you are on level two but not totally sure of that as i'm not there myself yet.....
Good luck on getting there

If you like an answer we've put on here, give it a Thumbs Up. If you don't, give it a Thumbs Down.

its to rate other peoples answers as good or bad, thumbs up or down
also if a persons answer is picked as best answer they get extra points for each thumbs up

I am new to this also, as of Monday. But I just made it to level two, and am now able to use those thumbs. It's to rate other answers as good or bad ones.

you need to be on level two before you are allowed to vote.to get to level two you need to answer more questions rather than ask questions.you lose 5 points off your points if you ask a question.if you answer a question you get 2 points.if your answer is chosen as best answer you get ten ppoints.the thumbs up/down is wether you like/agree or not with the question, dont worry i found it confusing the first few times but if you stick at it youll soon get the hang of things, welcome to yahoo answers.......v.addictive

If you think you see a good answer, you can give it the thumbs up, if you think it is a bad answer or inappropriate to the question, you can give a thumbs down.
However, please be fair, and if not sure, do not rate.
Welcome to this site, answer questions that you like, your input is welcome, but keep it genuine and honest please.
