First and most important thing to use when housebreaking a puppy is a crate. Now make sure you use a crate constructed totally of wire not the plastic travel crate. The puppy should be in the crate at all times unless you can totally have your eyes on him. If he whines while in the crate ignore him! If you go to him while he is whining it will not reassure him, it will teach him that all he has to do is whine and someone will come. Only go to him when he is quiet. When he is taken out of the crate he needs to be brought outside immediately. Use the same door everytime and bring him to the same place each time. If he is small enough to carry it is better to carry him to the pottying spot so he doesnt have an accident on the way. When he does eliminate praise him tremendously as if he just spoke to you in japanese. Giving him a small treat works wonders too not a biscuit, that takes too long to eat. a piece of hotdog or dog jerky treat works very well. The times a puppy will have to eliminate is: 1.when he comes out of his crate 2. 15-20 min after eating or drinking anything 3. When waking up from a nap 4. after playing and running.
If your puppy made a mistake in the house and you didnt see him make it its too late to punish he will have no idea that he did it. You have to catch him in the act and react at that time. Never ever call your puppy to you to punish him he will think he is being punished for coming to you and that could be dangerous if he decides to run into the street and wont come back when called. anyway the other thing that is very important when training is that you will have urine smell in your carpets and floors. It is very important to neutralize that odor or your dog will eliminate there again. A dog can smell 1 part urine in a million parts water so Resolve or Glory just wont work. Go to a pet store and get the odor neutralizer called Natures Miracle. When the puppy has an accident use the neutralizer on it. You see, with dogs when they smell urine it makes them feel like they have to eliminate. Just like us when we hear water running. above all dont get discouraged and dont EVER hit your puppy!!!! May take 30 days but it will work just follow those simple rules and you and your puppy will be much happier. Good Luck! P.S. The reason I said to use the same door every time is that you will start to notice your puppy hanging around that door when he has to eliminate. You can even go another step and hang a bell on the doorknob and find a way for him to ring it before you open the door possibly jumping up at it. He will figure it out trust me.

Take the dog out on the hour, whether it needs to go or not. When you do take it outside, and the dog does it's business, praise it. Only scold the dog when you catch it the act inside. Puppies especially have short memories and if you wait too long the pup won't know what it did wrong. Put the dog in a kennelcrate at night, and when you leave the house. As soon as you wake up, or arrive home, let the dog outside. Remember to constantly praise the good acts... Good luck

Some think it's cruel (I don't), but try using a crate. Dogs think that a crate is their home and they wouldn't want to go 'potty' in it. I have a shih tzu who is now 5 yrs. old and she never had an accident. If you decide to use a crate, make sure that he/she thinks it's a positive thing by giving treats. Slowly increase the number of hours the dog will be in it. My shih tzu no longer uses her crate (except when she is in the car) but she still loves it.
Hope this helps.....

Whenever you see him going in the house, tap him on the nose (Hard enough to let him you mean business, gentle enough to not hurt him) and say NO in a forceful, assertive voice. I have two lab puppies and that's what my family and I did. They're a little over a year now and they hardly ever go to the bathroom inside.

Is he crate trained??
You should let him out of the crate and immediatley outside. He will do his thing. Let him out about 20 minutes after eating or drinking water and before bed. Try not to let him do it in the house. I know that sounds weird, but the more you let him out when it's time to go he will learn that that is to be done outside not inside. If you have carpet get them steamed or cleaned really well so he doesn't smell it. He needs to disassociate this behavior from the house and associate it with being let outside. good luck

Ask the vet if there is something similar to getting a dog neutered .... maybe there is something internally that can be done so the dog stops going to the bathroom!

You have a puppy she doesn't understand you have to show her what's right. You need to keep the dog on a schedule for eating and drinking so you know about when she needs to go out, and you need to take her outside frequently. If when you are outside she poops and/or pees praise the heck out of her if not then she needs to be put in her kennel for a few minutes then try again. Don't stay outside forever about 10 minutes is fine, and always go to the same spot and out the same door. If the puppy wakes up from a nap or is playing when she's done she'll need to go outside. The other thing you have to do is make sure you clean up properly, dogs can smell such a small quantity of the odor you'd never know it was still there use an enzyme based product like Nature's Miracle or Simple Solution to get everything cleaned up. Also don't hit your dog for having an accident. If she has an accident and you catch her in the act stop her by calling her name sharply or saying no, and get her outside.

you can get a crate and crate train her. Most dogs will not go where they have to sleep, so it will tech her to hold it. Put her in it when you leave , and go to sleep. Also animals do not like vinegear go clean where she goes with it.
