I have curly hair so I know what to do. Sometimes if you take a shower and just go to sleep with your hair wet and then wake up in the morning and run a leave in conditionder through your hair. You can also put a curling gel in your hair and then defuse you hair. You can buy a defuser at the store and it just goes on the end of your hair drier.

For a kinky/wavy-curly type look, wash hair, and scrunch a body-building (TreSemme body boost) or curling serum/gel (TreSemme curl care) through your hair, scrunch for a few minutes while blow-drying (flip head for blow-drying) or let dry naturally.
For a more polished look, wash and apply a styling cream, scrunch and blow dry. Get your curling iron ready and wrap small pieces of hair around the iron, don't do a roll-up like most people do, just wrap small sections at a time around the iron. After you unwrap a section of hair tug on it a bit, it'll give you that soft-looking wavy curl so you're not left with spirals.
Afterwards use a finishing spray, such as TreSemme's finishing fine mist. TreSemme is similar to what is used in all salons, and it's extremely gentle but affordable.

Get some soft curls and put them in when your hair is damp. Wait until your is dry and then take them out. Brush your hair if you want it more towards the wavy side.
