Do you think our tap water is pure? Probably not. It will contain floride, minerals, solids and other items to small to detect. Some water systems have other contaminants that have infiltrated their drinking water reservoirs.

Has our tap water become cleaner over the years or has it become worse? As regulations have been emplaced, tap water has become cleaner.

What can industries do about pollution?
What about industries that discharge their waste water in rivers because it is too expensive to treat?

All waste water discharges that ultimately impact a navitagable water (by definition, a ditch is a navitagable water) has to be treated. Industry uses engineering controls to remove chemicals, solids, add oxygen and many other steps to keep receiving waters safe for humans and the environment. The discharges are regulated by each state department of environmental quality under the federal National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit process.

What can you do as an individual? and do you think do you care enough about water pollution? Individuals can take care not to pollute the water streams. Do not pour motor oil, antifreeze, gasoline, or other chemicals into storm drains.

Hope this helps

1) It depends on the treatment plant and their processes. I suppose some of it is.
2) No, you can taste the chemicles.
3) It depends on where you live and rather you have ditch water, pump water or treated water. I know mine is not and I have well water. We try not to drink it.
4) Industries can find better ways to dispose of their waste rather than dumping it in our water sources.
5) Perhaps those industries should be shut down until they can clean up their act. If nothing else, perhaps the government can help cover the cost of such until they can work it into their budgets. Or government can offer tangible incentives to these businesses to get them on the right track.
6) I can avoid polluting our water table by not dumping my engine oil in a drain or on the ground (same goes for anti-freeze) and I can avoid flushing my pills and such down the toilet and I can conserve water.

I have two questions: How much water do you think is sitting in landfills in plastic bottles? Do you think this water being held indefinitely from the hydrolic cycle will eventually affect our water table or our climate?
