My girlfriend is feeling and being sick, after being given the antibiotic Clairithromycin, is this a normal side effect?
Also she seems to be throwing up mainly liquid, until she is dry heaving, then in about an hour she vomiting again and she seems to be throwing up more liquid than she has drunk today.

This has been going for a few hours, since she got back from hospital. She was given some anti-sickness pills but they seem to have had no effect.
she's been sipping some water every now and again to try and keep her fluids up.

Get her to the hospital or doctors office ASAP. Check her vomit- if it seems to have any blood in it go to the hospital NOW. If she is still throwing up badly after recieving this antibiotic, just help her out and take her where she can recieve appropriate treatment. Puking is horrible. She needs to keep her liquids up and maybe you should give her some water with sugar and salt- to keep her going, and to help her blood sugar.

As unpleasant as it is to keep puking, make sure that she keeps at least drinking. Maybe try and get her some lucozade because that contains stuff that will keep her energy up. If it is a side affect of a drug then a trip to the doctors is definitely in order.
You don't state how long she has been like this, but obviously don't let it go on too long, particularly if she is in any pain.

No, this isn't normal. Severe or persistent vomiting is not good. It sounds like she's had an allergic reaction to it.
Have a look at the link below. If you're in the UK, give NHS direct a call - 0845 46 47.

I would make sure she is drinking plenty of liquids. You wouldn't want her to dehydrate. Smelling Rubin alcohol is a good trick to keep her from being so sick, tell her to smell it. I would get her some Dramamine and room temperature ginger ale, if none of these work, call the doctor asap!
