Two different animals.
Sugar comes in many forms:
Sucrose (the white sugar we are most familiar with)
Glucose (blood sugar...this is what carbohydrates are converted to)
Fructose (sugar from fruit sources...think high fructose corn sugar)
Lactose (milk sugar)
Anything on a food label that ends with "ose" is a sugar.
Sugar free means no "-oses" on the label. No added sugar means the product contains the natural sugars from the ingredients.

No added sugar means no extra sugar is added to the natural sugars that are already in the product. Sugar free means the product is free of sugar, but watch out most products that are sugar free do add sugar substitutes such as Aspartame, Splenda, and other artificial sweeteners that are not really good for you.

Yep, you are exactly right. Labels that say no added sugar mean that the product only contains natural sugar. A good example of this is fruit juice; fruit is naturally sweet and fruit juices with "no added sugar" still contain the natural sugar that is found in the original fruit. Sugar free products normally contain artificial sweetners like aspertame or aspartame.

You're right in your assumptions about the differences in "sugar free" and "No sugar added." A fruit pie, for example, may contain the amount of sugar in the peaches or apples, but there is no additional sugar added -- only artificial sweeteners to enhance the taste. Depending on the item, the sugar content can still be pretty high.
"Sugar free" means that the item has been sweetened with artificial ingredients such as Splenda.

I think "No added sugar" could mean there are natural sugars in it but the people who make it doesn't add white sugar or brown sugar in it. "Sugar free" means that there is no sugar in the product. So any natural sugars or other sugars are not added. But some of the products may tatse sweet depending of what product it is. So, Basically you are right!

No. Sugar free means no sugars of any kind; man-made or natural. No sugar added means only natural sugar is in the product.

yeah you are right no added sugar means that there was no ADDED sugar. Items like fruit juices can carry a no added sugar label but they do contain natural sugars. Be careful too. I purchased fat free no sugar added brownies using applesauce as the sweetener. Well the applesauce HAD added sugar! Its confusing but if you read your ingredients you should be okay, although in some cases they are sneaky sneaky!

No ADDED sugar means that there could be natural sugar out the wazoo (applejuice;no added sugar, but still sweet from the natural glucose found in apples)
& sugar free, has no sugars (glucose, fructose,[galactose isn't in foods usually],or high fructose) but likely has all sorts of chemical & possibly cancer-inducing fake sweeteners to make it taste similar.
my suggestion?
stick with "NO ADDED SUGAR" & check the label to see how much sugar there is.
Thinking;the simple fix to many things.
