No, it's a terrible idea. Why should real Americans have to carry their burden? That's bullsh*t.

Once again everyone is trying to paint ALL immigrants with a broad brush. I have read everyone's answers and I'm still not understanding why it's a problem to allow somebody to stay here IF they work hard, are not on welfare, did not steal somebody's identity, do not deal drugs and do not commit other serious crimes.
To some of the people upstairs: sorry, but to equate ALL immigrants with terrorists, rapists, child molesters and murderers is absolutely absurd. In my experience, most immigrants are simply trying to take care of themselves and their families, work extremely hard, and give this country much more than they take.
Note that I have not used the word "Illegal". I'm sorry again people upstairs, but "They broke the law" is a self-serving argument. We make it virtually impossible for someone to come here LEGALLY then complain when they break "the law" because all they want is a better life for themselves. In any case the so-called "legal" immigration process is very badly broken and should be fixed.
And in my view to deport someone whose "crime" was being taken here when they were not even old enough to walk or talk would be especially despicable.
But people who work hard to help this country will be deported, fences will be put up, we will continue to do nothing about the REAL terrorists and we'll continue to wonder why the rest of the world hates us.

NO! We have to exercise our law. Remember that LAW comes first.
Illegal is illegal.
And if the law probed it they should be punished according to the level of offense.
Or else all people around the world will come to the US and be illegal.

No as proven by the last amnesty bill passed by the Reagan Admin. It started an even bigger boom of illegal immigrants and it is easy to understand why. If I found out that by breaking the law with lots of my friends the government would just bend the law to accommodate us (because of the shear numbers of criminals) I would round up as many criminals as I could and break your laws. If you give a kid candy every time he cries for candy guess what he is going to do. He will cry all the time because he knows it will get him candy.
BTW it is cheaper to deport them all at taxpayers expense than it is to keep them all fed and in school.

No, all amnesty would do is, reward laws breakers, and tell the whole world that coming to the U. S. A., illegally is ok. Its nothing but a slap in the face to all who did it legally.

NOOOOOOO way!!!!! they came here illegally....why should we basically pat them on the back and say good job!!! You broke our laws, don't respect our country, legal citizens, laws and regulations!!!! good Job!!!! If an illegal immigrant is caught they should NEVER be allowed back into our country!!!! They lost their chance!!! Why should we accommodate someone if they don't respect us or our country!!!!

It won't solve anything. Once they become legal, employers won't be able to get away with paying them low wages. Then those same cheap employers will fire them and hire illegals to replace them. See? It won't work.
They need to go home.

No, i think people that came her illegally by jumping a border shouldn't get special consideration without paying the taxes they owe.
I think people who have been for more than 10 years and have paid taxes should get immediet citizenship.
People who have been here for 5 years and paying taxes should get permanent residency.
People who have been here for less than 2 years, and have paid taxes should get temporary residency.
Children who were brought here without having any say, like when you were a kid, should get permanent residency, regardless of whether their parents have paid taxes. There are many students who are smart, but because lack of papers, they can't go to college and become a productive part of the community. They get stuck babysitting, washing cars, or doing something that doesn't fulfill their full potential.
And just because you don't have papers doesn't mean you cant pay taxes... you can go to the irs and get a tax payer id number and you can pay taxes on the money you make... so there's no excuse why you shouldn't pay taxes.
Also, not every illegal immigrant is an undocumented immigrant.
Undocumented= jumped border, smuggled in or came on a boat.
Illegal=came here with a passport, through legal means, but stayed past the time given on their visa.

No what would be good about it let's send the message we reward criminals no thank you. Jobs were done prior to them being here they will done after they are gone. Would it be okay if I broke into your house stole your money your identity raped your wife and daughter, and then asked for amnesty? I think not. Hey clueless you are clueless there is no way to differentiate who is a good illegal from a bad one they would all say their good we cannot make acceptations for criminals.
