It's called National Service, and would be a very good move in this country, the U.K.
Try and get some of these wasters a bit of discipline. Might help sort their lives out, instead of wasting it on benefits.
Something I would very much like to see the return of.
Put them in uniform and pay them £45 a week. Not necessarily go off to fight our wars, but to do some service within the community as well. Give these youngsters a purpose in life.

Conscription. If you are a conscript, in states where this applies, all young people are signed up to serve a certain time in the armed forces. All young men and women in israel still have to do this! ;0 And believe it or not, it was legal in the UK up until the mid 1950s - my father always used to say that bringing conscription back would make men of today's youngsters....

Conscription. It was abolished in UK in the late 1950s - the last National Servicemen were leaving the Army by about 1962.

Stupidity ! My dad spent nearly 4 years as a jap p.o.w it destroyed his health and put him through a lifetime of mental pain and the people who sent him to war did not want to know him and his comrades when they came home. Every idiot leader who wants a war should be stuck in room with all the other idiot's give them a big stick and let them fight the battle's ,bet we wouldn't see many wars then !

Is it "conscription" in war time but otherwise National Service!
UK stopped National Service in 1950's and there are many arguments for bringing it back!!

Conscription?
I know what you mean - the countries where all men have to serve a term of military service.
