as christians it is good to spread the gospel, but not push it on people if they don't want to listen.

Is it wrong? No. Is it ineffective? Yes. While I'm not saying that you should hang out a flag, you should live a life that points to something else. You should make choices such that later on when someone finds out that you are a Christian, they should be smacking their head with their hand and saying "Oh, I should have figured that out from the way they live and the choices they made." Shouting from the rooftops can drive people away, but little choices and things you do everyday make you an approachable and relevant Christian even if you aren't wearing the t-shirt.

*It is not wrong to not talk about it. That is the only way most people know someone is a Christian because they are always trying to convert someone. However a true christian must live a life that people will assume they are Christian without having to ask or be told. Thje life you live must declare to the world that you are a Christian. But not everyone who lives this way are christian, but very few christians i know personally would ever be convicted if Christianity became illegal because of lack of evidence. *

The Scriptures tell us that our lives should be a light that people can see. Many people say that our faith should remain personal and should not be discussed in public. But being a Christian is not just a belief system, it is who you are. To try and keep your faith private is like trying not to be yourself.
I believe that our faith is supposed to be seen and heard. I am not saying that we preach at everyone or shove our faith down anyone's throat, but we shouldn't be ashamed to be who we are. We have good news to tell and to keep it to ourselves is disobedience to the direct commands of Christ Himself.
St. Francis said, "Go into the world and preach the Gospel - use words if necessary." I believe this is fitting for living our faith "out loud."

No, nobody could figure that out without seeing clues that you are a Christian. I think that comment is more about his views of Christians. It has nothing to do with the way you display your faith. For whatever reason, this individual is prejudiced against Christians. You can't help that.

Hello,
Yes! I believe people should be able to know if you are a Christian without asking! If people can't tell- then that just means we have to study more so that we can become more like Christ. Not that God called us to be him or be like him, However; he did call us into a relationship with him, and the more we study and grow in his word the more we become Christ like.
Although- it is know reason to beat herself up over it, as christian we are still human beings and we will have bad days and good days, but lets try to make sure or bad days are number. Blessing to you!

I think the pressure that the church puts on people to spread the gospel is unreasonable to well-meaning Christians who just want to "do the right thing" but rightly feel uncomfortable. Isn't being Christ-like enough? Jesus himself said to love God with all of your heart, mind, soul, spirit, and love your neighbor as your self -- "the rest is commentary." Besides, the gospel message is pervasive in this culture -- it's not like people haven't heard about it yet...they might not be Christian because they know about it but aren't interested, and no amount of witnessing is going to change that. It'll alienate people instead. If you worry about your friends, pray for them. It's God's job to work in their lives, and He will. But don't feel bad that you don't get the whole witness thing. Being like Jesus is much more authentic.

more and more people see christian as a derogatory term, even the born agian evangelists deny its religion status. Apparently even christians are ashamed to claim they are christian. Personally, ive seen more hypocrites in christianity than good people, thats why my friends list is made up of a mishmash of Atheists, Pagans, Satanists, and Agnostics. maybe just one or two christians, but they were usually civil with me when other christians were not.

As christians, our purpose is to spread the word. I personally don't do that unless i find the perfect opportunity with someone who is open to at least listening..... I can pick up on that..... You don't talk about god to athiests, thats like talking to a brick wall....
Be a christian..... Thats the way to go for the end is near and believe me it coming....... Always be proud of being a christian. As for your friend, pray for him.....

No, those who are always blowing thier own "horns", are craving attention for themselves. I don't think that people should be catagorized like that because then other people judge you, accourding to what slot you fit into, so they think they know who you are, when they really don't. Can't man break out of the habit of putting different people, into different groups? I think a person should not assume anything about another.

Everyone has thier own ideas on what it means to be christian, sometimes violent and agressive people are tagged as christian, because quite a few come off that way.
