for a 13mile charity walk in New York, in November 2007.
Would the best way be to contact companies directly or what? What would I ask for from these companies? £1400 needs to be raised... Any ideas

Much Appreciated

Is it a big event? Get lots of letter writing done and offer to carry their logo for sponsorship. If it's a small event but a good cause corporate companies may donate smaller amounts anyway. Also local community groups may be able to help like scouts or Americas version of the Women's Institute may adopt you as their good cause. The more people you ask the better your chance of hitting your target. Good luck.

Yes I'd contact direct (however may think you're pulling their leg) so i'd and contact the charity you are raising funds for - they will be the best ones for advice of how to go about it. check out website www.charitychallenge.com - they have info but don't know if what you're looking for.
Hope that helps.

No company will sponsor you. You could be a fraud. Friends and Family are your best bet.......
