I'd have to say it is. It's wonderful to receive, especially when it's something you really need or have wanted for a long time, but even that does not compare with the feeling one gets from giving from the heart. It gives pleasure and joy on many levels, fulfilling the need of another and making the heart glad. Some might call it a kind of vanity, and that might be fair, but it's one of the great pleasures of being alive and living around others.

"There is a wonderful mythical law of nature that the three things we crave most in life--happiness, freedom, and peace of mind--are always attained by giving them to someone else." ~ Peyton Conway March

"We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give." ~ Winston Churchill

There are several reasons why the answer is yes...but mainly...

...Of course, one obvious reason is that, in the moment of giving, you are stepping outside of yourself to do well or be helpful and generous to another person...

But aside from that...and although the idea is that you don't expect anything in return, when you give.......I do really believe karma is real...and that, you get whatever you put out - whether we're speaking literally or figuratively...

So, with that said....even though you give in the spirit of sincerity, generosity, and selflessness....even if whatever you give doesn't come back to you right at that second or by that person, it will come back to you in one way or another...and at some point...and many times, in an even bigger package than what you put out!

So, yeah - it's nice when people can both give and receive equally, but giving is definitely the way to go, when you can do it!

It depends on the situation, and what you mean by "better". Does it make you feel better to do one or the other? Is it morally "better"? That can't be answered with a simple yes or no. If your kids are hungry and someone offers you a hundred dollars to buy food, who is the "better" person, you, for accepting it and not refusing charity, or the person who gives you the money? Perhaps you are just both human beings, and the one who can give, does, and the one who needs, receives, because society has all kinds of people in all kinds of situations, and we're not just in it for ourselves.

As in all things, the answer is, it depends.

I can tell you that my best Christmas's ever have been when I have seen my own young kids excited and delighted over what we were able to give them.

It may always be "better" morally to give than receive but I can tell you that sometimes it is just more fun and more enjoyable to give than receive.

If I could ever get where I love everybody like I love my own kids and get good at giving, I bet all giving would be a blast, and always be as good or better than receiving.

I love the feeling I get when I do something for someone I love if it is a gift or a favor. I also enjoy being a receiver also but I think I do get more out being the one doing the giving.

Yes, It is so much better to give. I Love to give to the sweet little children who need so much. I have bought many winter coats to help and make sure the children have nice, clean coats. The smiles on their face is a wondeful payback for me. They Love what I give to the needy and my pay is to see the happiness, of giving. Even the parents breath a sigh of relief, when they see and welcome the much needed help. I Love to Give. I don't care if I have a coat on my back, as long as I can put a coat on some sweet person's back. I Love to buy diapers for all the babies. Then I know they can be dry and clean. I am being honest. I Love to provide for the needy.

Definitely. When you give and see the joy of the recipient it is so worth it. As the bible says, by giving we receive. If you give from your heart without expecting anything in return, you will be given tenfold that back. May be not in material things but in a way you feel great about.

I believe it is, though I love getting things, I feel very good about myself when i can give to people who need it, one Thanksgiving, after my Mom passed away, she left me a bit of money, and I was shopping for food, and they had this guy at the doors who was collecting a can of food here and there from people coming out to give to people who have nothing. So I went in and grabbed like two carts filled with stuff and walked out there, he was expecting a can or two, lol, I told him both carts were for him, and grabbed a bag off of the top and left, that was the best I ever felt!

Yes, I really believe it is. For example at Christmas--- are you obsessed with your own gifts, or are you excited to see how everyone likes the gifts you gave THEM? I get more pleasure out of making someone else happy. As for sex, it's definitely better to give than to receive. Giving gets me off.
