Last year I did work for this company about 4 months, and they paid me by company check without details of tax deduct. But they said all the taxes have been deducted just like yours. Now it's time to do tax returns and they haven't send me a w2-form. Left several messages but no return. Should I report to IRS? What should I do? I really need tax refund. Please help!

Do you have pay stubs or any written statements from them for each check, showing what was deducted? If not, this all sounds pretty shaky.

They do still have almost a week yet to get W-2's out though - they have to be in the mail by January 31.

If they aren't returning your calls, I'd go to their offices if they're local and still in business and ask them what's going on.

If you don't get anything by mid-February, call the IRS - it will probably mean though that they didn't really deduct taxes, or if they did, they didn't forward them to the government in your name, in which case they have a major tax problem. If you have something in writing showing the deductions, you're probably OK - otherwise you'll have a tax problem also since you won't be able to prove anything was deducted.

Good luck.

they have until January 31, 2007 to mail the W-2 or 1099 form to you. Until then, you just need to wait. I believe the law states that you should have it by Feb 15 before you call to get the info.
If your pay stubs do not show the tax withholding, it is possible that they did not withhold tax and you will get a 1099. If it was over $600 they must give you the 1099. Did you do a self calculation to see if they withheld tax for example you worked 20 hours at $10 per hour for $200 and they paid you say $180 that would imply they withheld tax. If they paid you the full $200 no tax was withheld.
Give it a few days, as most company's run them VERY LATE

By law W-2 forms have to be postmarked no later than 01/31/07. So you still have a few days to wait.

I would be much more concerned about not getting details about taxes taken out. It is possible that you were paid as a sub-contractor and no taxes were taken out. If this is the case you will receive a 1099 form to report misc. income.

If this happens? You will owe all the taxes for whatever amount of money you were paid over that 4-month period.

No. The amount in Box 1 of W-2 goes on line 7.

They have to have your W-2 postmarked by Jan. 31. So, there's nothing to report yet, they still have a few days to get them out.

If you don't get one by first or second week in February, then you can start chasing them down harder.
