Has anyone tried trigger point injections?
I broke my back in 8 places a few years ago and have chronic pain and my pain clinic specialist has recommended "Trigger point injections". Has anyone tried these and if so what has your experience been?

I have had them, i have 3 herniated disks in my low back L3-4 L4-5 and L5-S1, they help but not permanently for me, unfortunately, but a little relief is better then none... I came across this questions because i actually had two yesterday and I feel sick as heck today. I wondered if they make you sick, does anyone know that?
Hope you feel better, I would suggest trying them if your in pain.

yes Sir I have had maybe 75 or so over a period of 15 yrs.My experience in my condition the first several worked for a while max10 days 2 weeks and the more I got they seemed to be less effective. They dofeel slightly uncomfortable if you get them without sedation ie- fentanl and or versaid combined I've had so many I'm tough enough to go without sedation not to mention when you do get sedated it means you have to stay there an extra 30 to 45 minutes which gets old after a while.I have a condition called costochrondral intravertibial arthopy and I keep a knot in a joint of my muscle around my T5 - t9 24 -7.I take meds everday there is no anything to help except pills procedures like nerve blocks acholol injections pretty much on a regular basis but I know what pain is and I hope you find this procedure helpful if just for a short time some relief is better than none I know. But if you do this without sedation it isn't really painful but you do feel alot of pressure, gine it a try and see what you think.Hope you get some relief. mitzic63@yahoo

I used to get them once a week in 6 different places in my neck and shoulders. I would feel kind of weird right after they did it (fuzzy head kind of queasy) and then the pain would subside for a little while, but then come right back. It was nice not feeling the pain as intense for a day or two, but then like I said it came right back.

That's just my personal experience though. I have quite a high tolerance for pain medications though, so it just may be that my body got too used to them. They did suggest trying botox instead, but there are some crazy side effects with that one, so I decided against it. I personally don't even do the injections anymore. With the cost and the weekly (sometimes 2-3 times a week) treatments it wasn't worth it for me anymore.

I do know people that swear by them though.
You could always try it once or twice and see how it works out for you, it may be life saver for you.

Good luck.

I have not only received them, but I have given several thousand of them. If used for the right conditions, then they can work wonders. However, if the muscle spasm is secondary to some other underlying problem (herniated disc, facet joint disease) then the muscle spasm will likely return as the underlying condition is still there.

They gave me IMMEDIATE relief. Once the cycle of pain was broken, the pain never came back that bad again. It's finally gone away completely. Amazing. I have also had nerve blocks that worked great, too.
