What is the best at home treatment for sinus post nasal drip and infection? The doctors don't seem to help me.
I get such bad post nasal sinus drainage that I get so sick I can't hardly function. I get nautious, my stomach hurts, etc. My head gets pressure, my head gets very hot. I get chilled easily. I get some drainage to the ears and my ears and eyes get a bit goofy. The drainage tastes bad. I have tried antibiotics, sprays, been to an allergy doctor had a CT Scan done a few years ago. I have been trying nasal washes and some other at home things. I just started XClear wash. I even did a candida herbal treatment for colon cleansing for awhile.
Either I am a seriously big wimp or this just really sucks! I missed two weeks of work in August. I cannot miss work right now in tax season!!!

The link didn't work.

Yes I had allergy tests done last year but they didn't prove beneficial.

Is it normal to get them this often?

I have heard that sinus surgery is typically not helpful. The nurse that did my CT Scan of my sinuses said she had the surgery and it didn't do anything for her. She blamed it on where we live, etc.

In my experience, the best treatment is the neti pot. It's so cheap and simple, but it works wonders. The neti pot has been used by ancient yoga practitioners for thousands of years. It's basically a little pot that allows you to rinse out your nasal and sinus cavities with saline (salt water). You pour the saline in one nostril, and gravity takes the saline through the cavities and out the other nostril, washing away allergens, germs, and pollutants.

Dr. Ketan Mehta, MD, says, "Of all the treatments tried for controlling and curing the symptoms of sinus disease, the one I found to work the best is a saline nasal rinse. As a medical specialist, I saw a tremendous need for a nasal rinse for my patients."

Here's a recent blog about the neti pot:

Other methods of nasal rinsing include the and various bottle rinse kits. Learn more at this Sinus Problems Solution Guide:

I too have bad sinuses. I just had surgery on my nose to clean out scar tissue and aid my breathing. I also use salt nasal washes, and am on antibiotics. I also get three allergy shots a week. This is my second sinus surgery. I was angry that my first Ears Nose Throat doctor didn't do the surgery right so I went to a facial surgeon who specializes in nose surgery and sleep disorders.

Sleep apnea can cause some temperature spikes. My sleep study shows that I wake up as many as 200 times a night. However things are improving since the second surgery.

When you have a chance, get fully checked out!

Couple things. I get this a lot and also miss work. The docs have not been very helpful to me either.

Make sure the air in your house is clean and not too dry.

Frequently flush your sinuses with warm salt water, not just when you feel sick.

Have you been tested for allergies?

Avoid foods/beverages that cause mucus where possible.

You may be lactose intolerant.

I get relief from SudaCare Shower Soothers Vaporizing Shower Tablets.
