I think tattoo's are sexy especially on a man's calf, or his bicep & forearms... I want to get one on my ankle but am too chicken... plus I am on blood thinners, (heart related terminal disease) where would be the least sensitive area to get one... How bad do they bleed?

Talk to your doctor first if you are on blood thinners! Please! Then if he says ok, be sure you also find a tat person that has a good reputation, and that you've seen his work.

Personally, I'd never get one that could not be covered up with normal workday attire. My personal preference. Small could be sexy, but remember that when you're a parent your kids will look at it and wonder why you picked out what you did.

Think it through, and getting one removed is much worse than getting it applied!

If you are on blood thinners you will probably bleed a lot. That's part of the reason tattoo artists don't want you drinking alchohol before you get tattooed. It can effect the outcome. Its pretty easy to tell what the less sensitive areas of your body would be, just pinch yourself with your fingernails. It really hurts more on the inside of your upper arm than it does on your calf or somewhere your skin is really thick. Oh and right on bone hurts more too. That's why I thought my ankle hurt more to tattoo.

Whatever you do, ask your doctor, and make sure you really want a tattoo. It will be on you forever. I have 3 and want 2 of them removed. 5 years ago I was in a rock band, I had pink hair, and I was gunna be famous...so I told myself. Now I'm on the board of my local mothers club, and an active member of the local golf and tennis club. I own an argyle sweater. I am embarrassed to use the pools at the club, because I'd have to be in a swimsuit and my tats will show. I have nothing against other people with tattoos, it just turned out that they weren't right for me. You never know where life can take you, so really think about doing anything permanent.

Since you're on blood thinners you should talk to your doctor before getting this kind of body modification done. Some blood thinners can make it harder for your clotting factors to work, so any amount of bleeding could be a problem. And let's face it, tattooing involves needles and skin, there's blood involved. A doctor will be able to give you advice on areas with fewer capillaries and such and also advise you on the wisdom of getting it done at all.

Don't get me wrong I love them and have a few, but.....No where on you is a good spot if you are on blood thinners! This could lead to increased bleeding, infection, cellulitis and not to mention that with out the normal ability of your blood to clot properly it won't heal. If you wnat it that bad I would suggest taliking to your doctor and cardiologist about the pro's and con's until then stick with the temp tattoos and the henna it is much safer for you and you can change then when you feel like it!

I just got one on the inside of my wrist last weekend. It almost didn't bleed at all. It really didn't hurt much there either. The bottom of the tat is about 1/2 of an inch from the palm of my hand, and right at the bottom is where it hurt the most. I hate to say this though, you may not want to get it, if it could kill you and all. Good luck in everything.

The nape of your neck--it feels like a massage--HOWEVER check with your doctor first, you don't want to take any chances with the blood thinners, especially if you haven't had one you don't know what effect the needle will have and the amount of bleeding that will be caused by it. The ones that I have (4) haven't bled hardly at all, and the one that was the easiest to get was on the nape (back) of my neck.

Realistically, I am not sure that you would be able to get one if you are on blood thinners because the medicine may make it difficult for your blood to clot. You may want to ask your doctor about it and also - discuss it with a tattoo artist.
