It has taken him 12 years to ask you to marry him and you have kids together? Drop the loser and look for someone that respects you and loves you. Women give so much to the men we love until we can not stand it anymore. They walk all over us, but as soon as we lose interest they decide that they want to be with us. He has had 12 years to figure this out. Way too long. I think he knows that he is losing you and he doesn't want anyone else to have you. So to keep you on the hook and with him, he is telling you things that he thinks you want to hear.
As for the phone calls, where does he live know? Is he involved with another women? Does he get up and leave after the phone calls? If he leaves after the phone call you can bet that there is another woman.
Don't let him move in. He said he would marry you as long as you don't try to force it on him while he's living with you. Tell him you won't be forcing it because he will not be living with you unless he does marry you.
You've given this man 12 years of your life. Time to move on. There are other fish in the sea and they are better than him. Don't waste anymore time on him.

the fear to love or fear to tread
fear to be all alone in bed
a fear for him that the love is dead
and now he thinks he wants to wed
you might not have consciously displayed
a lack of desire for him
but your heart cried out
when things started to become grim
but if this is an act of fear
and if push comes to shove
be weary of hearts and minds
because it's not an act of love
and if he truly loves you
you'll feel it from within
but you might need to open up a little more
to let the healing begin
and if you're simply through
after twelve long years of strife
don't waste your time with this guy
and certainly don't become his wife!

He wants the milk for free but will let you know later if he wants to buy the cow. If don't love him and are not interested in him any longer don't string him along. Tell him clearly and calmly that you do not see a future together with him and you don't want to lead him on. Marrying him will only makes things worse and then you will really start to hate him.

It might be that he's finally realized he's been with you for twelve years now and it might be time to make steps toward marriage. He might think that your distance is because you don't like his apparent lack of commitment. But if you really don't love him...it doesn't matter what his reason is, because you have to tell him what you're feeling.

if you do not love him anymore what is the reason that you fell out of love with him. has he changed that much over the years, or you interested in someone else, or maybe you just grew apart. only you known and if you do not love him or want to be with him anymore just come out and tell him so.

Hmmm, you fell out of love and now HE wants to move in with you?
Why would you want a guy whom you don't love? Why would he want someone who doesn't love him?
