What exactly makes food "left over"? Is it when you cook it one day then eat it the next? or is it when you actually eat from the container that day (box, cup, or wrapper) and eat the rest the next day?

Left overs are what is left over from the meal. Not something that you've pre-cooked.

If left overs were pre-cooked meals, then the only time my house would not be eating left overs is on the weekend. That's when I cook for the week.

I would define "leftovers" as any food left over from a snack or meal that is eaten at a later time. It does not matter if it is 2 hours later or 2 days later.

My mother always washed left over veg's and put them in our salads. Where we picked them out. But that is what i remember.
