A deist is someone who believes, based solely on reason, in a God who created the universe and then abandoned it, assuming no control over life, exerting no influence on natural phenomena, and giving no supernatural revelation.
Jefferson was not a Christian, born again or otherwise. What would make you think that?
Jefferson said "Christianity is the most perverted system that ever shone on man...Rogueries, absurdities and untruths were perpetrated upon the teachings of Jesus by a large band of dupes and imposters led by Paul, the first great corruptor of the teachings of Jesus."
He also said "I have examined all the known superstitions of the world, and I do not find in our particular superstition of Christianity one redeeming feature. They are all alike founded on fables and mythology. Millions of innocent men, women and children, since the introduction of Christianity, have been burnt, tortured, fined and imprisoned."
Jefferson saw Jesus as a moral teacher unlike any other but not as God or the son of God.
Jefferson's biographies generally list him as a Unitarian, not a Christian.

The born again movement did not exist during Jefferson's time and he would have nothing to do with such a group of zealots and hypocrites...he was a strong proponent of seperation of church and state, Jefferson was a deist because he believed in one God, in divine providence, in the divine moral law, and in rewards and punishments after death; but did not believe in supernatural revelation. He rejected, among other things, the doctrines that Jesus was the promised Messiah and the incarnate Son of God. he would be appaled at the existence of the religious right and the influence they have in politics and would have puked at the fact that W used Christianity as a major ploy in being "elected".

"I have sworn eternal hostility against every form of tyranny over the mind of man."
Those words by Mr. Jefferson, carved on the Jefferson Memorial, were written about Organized Religion.
The "Jefferson Bible" is Mr. Jefferson's attempt to separate the ethical teachings of Jesus from the supernatural elements and religious dogma that he felt contributed nothing to the New Testament.
A nominal Episcopalian for political purposes, Mr. Jefferson was never "born again" and he would have been shocked that anyone would so insult his intellect. He, like many of the Founding Fathers, was a Deist, through and through.

Those writings were from a book later to be found out were not written by him.
He was a Deist, which is a lot like Agnostic. He believed in science and logic, and that God was good for some things, but in more of a secular way.

You posted this twice, I;ll give you the same answer I did before.
A Deist believes that a god made the word but didn't particularly care about its inhabitants and just left the world to sort itself out.
Sorry, there's no way he could have been a b.a. Christian, they weren't even around until long after he died.

A deist is someone who believes God started the Universe off and then sat back, not interfering, no miracles, not listening to prayers and not sending his son.
Jefferson said you should question belief in god because if there is one, he'd value reason over blind faith and fear.
He wouldnt have appreciated ignorant scum like you saying he was in heaven no matter how well intentioned you think you are.
*Reason I didn't explain what a deist was in my answer to your last question is because if someone's question is no more than what a word means I'd think they'd use a dictionary.*

And I believe tomorrow I'll wake up and George Bush will resign citing his reason 'I'm an idiot'. I believe it but it doesn't make it true.
