I love cous cous and i often put other stuff in it like garlic, onion and mushrooms etc but has anyone got any ideas for some kinda sauce or stock to mix with it to make it a little less dry???

Fry up some red and green peppers with some onion and garlic, add a tin of chopped tomatoes and garum masala. Mix with the cous cous. Outstanding.

definite I have - it really is disgusting! i like cous cous in spite of the undeniable fact that those with extra flavours style very synthetic and are not truly mandatory as you are able to upload you own flavour. purchase uncomplicated cous cous, pour on boiling water and leave to face for quarter-hour. upload quite lemon juice, Olive oil, soya sauce and in spite of herbs and spices you want. maximum perfect desires.

you can add ANY sauce you like to it! I love salad dressings in it, blue cheese, French dressing, even Thousand Island, (nice with fish or prawns) Any sauce from a jar or homemade, curry, tomato, sweet chilli, lemon (sauce for chinese style lemon chicken) sweet n' sour, Cajun, i vary it to what i'm serving the cous-cous with.

It's nice cooked with a stock cube, when cooked add a big pat of butter and some chopped fresh mixed herbs and a squeeze of citrus lemon/lime - yummy!

Moroccan Cheddar Couscous
1 Tbsp. olive oil
1 medium red bell pepper, diced
1/2 cup chopped onion
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 can (14-1/2 oz.) chicken broth
1 cup couscous, uncooked
1-1/2 cups (6 oz.) Sharp Cheddar Shredded Cheese, divided
2 Tbsp. chopped fresh cilantro

Heat oil in large skillet over medium heat until hot. Add bell pepper, onion and garlic. Cook 6 minutes or until vegetables are tender, stirring occasionally. Add broth; heat to a boil. Stir in couscous; cover and remove from heat. Let stand 5 minutes or until broth is absorbed. Fluff couscous mixture with a fork. Stir in 1 cup cheese. Sprinkle with remaining cheese and cilantro.

Have you tried cous cous salad?
Soak the cous cous in olive oil, lemon juice and a little water until fluffy. Add chopped red onion (I prefer to brown mine first), diced tomatoes, sliced cucumber, radishes, black olives, maybe even a finely chopped chilli.......................in fact anything you fancy!!! Then add some of your fave salad dressing and serve on a bed of lettuce.
It's lovely!!!!

lemon and chilli.could eat it with some plain yogurt.went through a phase of eating cous cous,have not had it for a while.

try adding a little extra olive oil or butter and a touch more water than called for. I make it sometimes with a can of tuna packed in olive oil (drained just a bit) and omit the oil or butter. Its also nice with cheese! I ate it for years before I decided to try cheese on it. Yummmm

I agree with the others saying to use chicken broth instead of water. I like to put in mine minced garlic and a sun dried tomato diced up. (use the kind packed in oil)

Chicken broth (canned or homemade) works really well. Any small bits of vegetable (sometimes we do frozen peas, corn, carrot bits, whatever). If you add a little butter or olive oil to the boiling water it won't be so dry.
