I totally hear you. I've had the same problem for years.

I've finally found something that works for me. I use Paul Mitchell Tea Tree shampoo. Expensive, but marvelous. It has menthol so it exposes the scalp. AFTER that, I use Head and Shoulders Intensive Treatment (The orange stuff, best you can buy over the counter). Lastly, I use the Tea Tree conditioner to moisturize.

If that still doesn't work, it's time to see a dermatologist and get a prescription. Don't stop until you get it fixed. Unfortunately, people react very negatively to dandruff, especially if you're young, and assume things about you that can hurt you socially and professionally.

I have used Tea Tree shampos with the best result. Following the directions on the bottle is best, done to washing you hair everyother day or twice a week. Overshampoing contriputes to the dry scalp problem, which most people mistake for dandruff. Good luck.

You need to go to a beauty salon and purchase a good type. Yes they are different. The chemicals can also expire with time and on dept. store shelves, who knows how long they've been there.

Be careful, sometimes if your scalp is really dry, you can wash it so much that you create more of a problem. Don't use hair dryer when possible. Switching different types of shampoos can also help....e/o day, use a differnt type. If it becomes really terrible, ask your doctor....it may be something else.

Here are some home remedies you can try:
1. Apply baking soda in your hair.
2. Crush aspirin and apply in your hair.

Kiehl's has a scalp toner. And Neutrogena has scalp residue cleanser. Both might help.

Shampoos with tea tree oil are great for dandruff. Also you might want to try massaging apple cider vinager in onto your scalp before shampooing.

My favorite shampoo for this is by Max Green Alchemy:
