ever since I was little,i parted my hair to the side. now that i'm older, i don't like to do it, but there is a "part" in my hair that i cant get rid of. when i part my hair, there is this scalpy part (if you know what i mean) shown very clearly where my hair is parted. how can i get rid of it?if i gel my hair up, one side is ok while the other side shows the scalpy part where i parted my hair. (sorry if this is complicated!)

Im not sure this will work but it is worth a try. Overnight part your hair to where you want it and put one of the tight fabric type headbands around the centre to keep the parting in place. Pin the headband to makea sure it doesnt slip off when your sleeping. Then try straightening it to the side you want it in the morning. Hope this works for you!

I too have a part right in the middle of my head that has been there and very prominent since I was a little girl.
I can change the style and part it else where but I need to blow dry it that way or ask at the hair dressers for them to do it for me.
My hair doesn't like the change and will eventually try to go back to it's natural part but it's up to you to persevere. (I never to for to long and always let it win)
But I'm sure if you persist with constant (daily) combing it into the part you like and blow drying it that way when wet it will eventually give in.

Here's what I think is happening, going by the little bit of information you've given us. When you part your hair in the same place for a long time, you're repeatedly exposing the same roots to the elements, which eventually makes them prone to breaking. I would see a stylist to ask about styling options, and to rule out any other underlying scalp/hair conditions, but if everything else seems healthy it's likely that if you change up your style, the exposed part will regrow eventually.
