What will happen to my tax refund by claiming my daughter? If it makes my refund less by claiming her, than whats the point in doing it.. is it required by law or something? I have no clue

If you are eligible to claim your daughter, you should do so. It won't reduce your refund, it will probably increase it. If you did your taxes and it looks like claiming her is reducing your refund, then you're doing something wrong - check over your numbers or post here again with more detail and somebody will help you find the problem.

If somebody told you that claiming her would reduce your refund, they're wrong.

Based on your income, you may qualify for credits in claiming your daughter as well as lowering your taxable income by claiming an exemption for her. Call 1-800-829-1040 for more information
This would increase your refund amount.

having a dependent should reduce your tax and increase your refund but make sure you can claim her first
