Everybody has one of these people in a family it seems. They are just blow hards' with a heart of stone. She probably still hates you for some ridiculously trivial thing that you did as kids. Call her bluff! Tell her to take you to court, that you were just given the name of a great attorney and can't wait to use him! I would also get your Mom involved if she is still alive. Tell her you will be subpoenaing her for the hearing your sister is forcing you into! This will get your sis spanked even as an adult.

your sister won't have a leg to stand on in court seeing that the money is paid in full to your mother.your sister might have asked your mother in the past if she could lend her money and your mother said no and now your sister is mad because your mother did for you and she knew that she would get her money back from you & your sister thinks that it isn't fair.

I pretty sure that she has no case you have a copy of the check. Sounds like she has a completely different issue and just wants to start problems cuz she is mad at you.
Good luck

Issuing signed checks against a closed account is fraud. She could be prosecuted for this alone. Your mother will probably need a private investigator to find the other person, although she could try the police on the grounds that the cheques were issued fraudulently.

Your sister can't sue you for money that your mother gave you. Also if you have proof that you have repaid the money she don't have a case even if she could sue you for somebody else.

I don't think she has a case since you did pay it back and it is none of her business to start with.
Good luck!
