What is your religious stance on this? Do you believe that the only purpose for sex is to reproduce, and having it for pleasure is a sin? Or do you believe that sex is a gift that is to be enjoyed, and not to be treated as if it is were a disgusting evil act?

Give me your best answer to this. Remember, I'm looking for answers based upon religion. Thanks!

Sex is both re-creation and also for recreation.

Sex or the ultimate act of copulation is the signature for the union of the heart, mind and soul of two lovers who decided to live out as man and wife. Marriage defined.

Wedding is but the graduation ceremony for courtship. Soul mates no less. Best friends at the least. I believe there is an exchange of divinity not just fluids.

That is why it is suppose to be between man and wife. And in that purity bring forth seeds, children with hope and love. When 1 or 2 entity is multiplely joint, the spirit is not pure anymore. Eve was formed out of Adam's rib or thereabouts, when he was in a deep state of sleep.

Eve then is the physical expression or the outward expression of man, of Adam inner self, the sub-consious self, the intuitive self. Eve and Adam are one. Eve just reflect the qualities of Adam in a deep state of consiousness. Hence when they are joint, they become one in body, mind and soul. For they truly belong to each other as the hand is to the body. The heart to the soul. The face to the head.

I believe sex in the right circumstances, as in a man and his wife, is a gift from God, and should certainly be enjoyed. The only time when it is a disgusting evil act is when it is done outside of God's blessing, and even then I do not think it is the act that is so bad, but the effect it has on one's soul.

How is it that religious people can take something that feels great and make it somehow evil? If God created it and it feels great, then keep doing it. It is not only for reproduction or else it would just a mechanical act that offers no pleasure. In fact, with my last e-mail from God, he mentioned that the whole world probably needs to have one big orgy and get over itself. He mentioned that he thinks we are too uptight and need to relax. And God can't be wrong.
Sex between two, three, four, etc people is awesome. I always love those childish answers of people stating that sex is for two married people or people in love. They need to get out there and have some down right animalistic sex all because of lust.

Look, If God created a way for humans to reproduce and intended the actions of sexual intercourse for reproduction ONLY, do you think he would have made the act so pleasurable? I think he would have made sex something simplistic, like being a sexual if he just wanted us to reproduce.

Its not even an evil disgusting act outside of marriage. However it is considered a sin. And on that point I cant think of one scripture in the bible that outright says wait for marriage..

I think the real sin is in "lusting" especially after another mans wife, or something that you arent supposed to lust after. Lusting is the sin here. and there is a fine line...

Song of Solomon. Read it. That should clear up a lot of stuff!!!!

It is an over rated nusiance. It should be used only for pro creation. I am envious that I no longer enjoy just doing it. I personally believe that God or other "higher power" gave us this as a gift for all to enjoy and reproduce, what ever the need may be.

It is said that lust cannot be satisfied by any amount of sense enjoyment, just as fire is never extinguished by a constant supply of fuel. In the material world, the center of all activities is sex, and thus this material world is called the shackles of sex life. In the ordinary prison house, criminals are kept within bars; similarly, the criminals who are disobedient to the laws of the Lord are shackled by sex life.
Therefore, this lust is the symbol of ignorance by which the living entity is kept within this material world.
Sex life in the mundane world is the root-cause of being conditioned by the shackles of illusion.
Throughout the entire material world, beginning from highest human being down to the small, insignificant creatures like the ant, everyone is attracted by sex life. That is the basic principle of this material world.

Yes, yes, the iron shackles of sex life! everyone is enchanted by it.

Sex is to be enjoyed, not just used as a reproductive act. When the one you love and you come together to make love then it forms a bond that cannot be formed any other way. Making having sex a sin is horrible because is denies us one of the basic things of human nature.
If you wish to read more of this you should read "The Mists of Avalon." It really changed my views on religion in a great way.

I believe that sex is for reproduction,( God said to go forth and replenish the world), and also for pleasure. Even Sarah, in her old age, when told she would bear yet another son asked, "Will I have pleasure in my old age?". The sex act between a husband and wife is a very loving act of submitting to each other.

It is a gift within a heterosexual marriage for both pleasure and reproduction; it is a sin and a curse outside of it. Think of all the things that accompany sex outside of marriage. Unexpected pregnancies, abortion, VDs, homosexuality, bestiality, child molestation, pornography, lowered self-esteem, rape, devaluing of women, affairs, divorce, etc.
Sex within marriage is a symbol of the fact that God said, "They shall become one flesh". It is a binding act, and people who have waited for each other will have more respect for each other and communicate better. They will be better able to raise any children that result from the expression of their love.
