it is all up to you and the dog i have had some that were as spry as a puppy at 10 yo and others that were not so good. i will usually stop at 8 -9 years of age, good feed with no fillers like corn or soy. wheat and plenty of exercise. and time off between litters. will extend them

By the time a female dog is six months old, she should be spayed. (And male dogs should be neutered.) There are too many strays that need loving homes. Take a moment to look up euthanasia rates in America and you'll see why breeding dogs only contributes to our pet overpopulation problem.

A definately agree with the PP's. If you need to be asking this question, you shouldn't be breeding AT ALL REGARDLESS OF THE BREED!!!

There are thousands of dogs in shelters that need good homes...and unless you're actually health/genetically testing your dogs to better the breed....I'm going to stop. This was a very loaded question.

Spay your *****. It's that simple.

not a very good idea, BUT if you insist upon it you're really not supposed to breed females after the age of 5 because this increases their chances of getting ovarian cancer and a lot of other female health problems. This will eventually lead to having to spay her.

If your not a dog breeder you have no business breeding your dogs... we already have too many unwanted dogs in this country and people breeding thier dogs adds to the problem... I suggest rather than breeding your dog you get it spayed.

as long as she is healthy you can probably breed a female up to about 8 years.
But you should really refrain from breeding pitbulls, since there are too many already, and it is extremely hard to find GOOD homes for them.

I never breed a bltch after their 8th birthday. If it's her first litter.... no later than 4 yrs of age. Just too many "could happens" can occur beyond that time for my taste.

I agree...please don't breed her. I wouldn't breed past the age of 5...just my personal opinion.

don't breed your pit bull. pit bulls are the most euthanized dog breed of them all.

It would be extremely selfish of you to breed a pitbull. Especially if she is older.
