How do you say Mother in Japanese?
Is it hahaoya or reidou? Doesn't hahaoya sound as if you're laughing or something or may be I just don't know how to pronounce it...I called my mum "haha-oya" and she thought I was laughing at her or something :/ when I told her it was japanese she just laughed at me..so do I pronounce it weirdly or..I don't know?

When talking TO your mother you use "okaasan". This is also for when talking about someone else's mother.
When talking ABOUT your mother you use "haha".
When talking about *mothers* who have no relation to you (such as "mothers" as a whole) you say "hahaoya" (which literally translates to "mother parent"). I've never seen/heard "reido" before.
Also, haha is pronunced similarly to "haha" in English, but without the intonation. It doesn't sound like you're laughing when you do it correctly.

It seems, he never got any confidence from your end. And he is always been treated as a kid. He is thoughtful, i guess. But due to lack of confidence, he can not manage the stresses produced by the thoughts about his future. You mentioned he is always gaming and partying at the weekend. Calculate his daily schedule, you would see that he is avoiding the thoughts. As he is thoughtful, he has understood about the decision of quitting university. I can not suggest you anything. But you can try to present his strengths (i mean show to him) in a way of an observation should be, and definitely not without an insight. I am sorry to say, but he is going to mess up. I will be happy if i am wrong.

Yes! Haha and okaa-san are words for mother. However, in proper japanese, you should not refer to your mother as haha as this is impolite. Always adress her as okaa-san.

hahaoya is correct, but you don't really use it when you're speaking directly to your mother. it's more, like, my mom's blah blaah....=watashino (my) HAHAOYA wa (is)...
i've never heard of reidou.
usually it's okasan (oh-kah-ah-sahn)... if you're really little, though, you'd probably call her mama (mah-mah, no accent). but only if you're, like, 8 years old or younger.

basically,.."haha" means mother and "oya"means "parent",..we but we just call our moms casually,..which is "okasan"..and "okasama" for the honorifics..
