Whales are mammals, and have lungs, therefore they can live for quite a long time out of the water. They cant move on dry land, and also ther skin gets dry very quick so it is necessary to sprinkle them with water if they are out.
So that is one way of weighing whales, on dry.
Lately it is more common to weigh them on the pool together with water.
All you have to do is know the weight of the water without the whale; weigh the water and the whale; calculate the weight of the whale by by taking the weight of water from the weight of water with the whale
